History and environment

The Balearic Islands are part of the autonomous communities of Spain and are located in the Balearic Sea. It is an archipelago consisting of five main islands divided into two groups of islands, namely on the one hand Mallorca, Menorca, and the islet of Cabrera forming an eastern block, and on the other hand with Ibiza and Formentera, forming a western block. With a total population of about 1,171,543 inhabitants, the archipelago is located in the Catalan area, more precisely with the Valencian Community and Catalonia. In addition, Palma is the capital of the most populated and largest island, Mallorca. The Balearic Islands are characterized by a Mediterranean climate, accentuated by rather hot and dry summers, with temperatures averaging 32°C, and rather mild and wet winters, with temperatures generally not falling below 16°C. Places of interest and traditional festivals

In Mallorca, you can see the great cathedral which is located in Palma and which was previously built on one of the ancient acropolis of the city.
